Heather McCarty
Musical Director of Choral Arts Youth


Heather was born and grew up in Salem, Illinois. She has been performing and directing since the age of 10. After graduation from Salem Community High School, where she was active in musicals and band, she was accepted at Eastern Illinois University. There she studied music education and voice under Professor Jerry Daniels and Professor Robert Hills.

Heather went on to teach K-8 music for the Moore County school system in North Carolina. After moving back to the Midwest, she became of member of the Choral Arts Singers, and in 2006 assumed the responsibility of Music Director for the Choral Arts Youth choir. Heather teaches music in the Wentzville School District, and serves as cantor at St. Patrick Catholic Church also in Wentzville.

 
Karen Stevenson
Accompanist for Choral Arts Singers

Karen began her musical training in piano at age 4 studying with local teachers Hazel Miller Miester, Charles Cordeal, and Joanna Lang through her high school years. She studied piano during the summer of 1972 at an accelerated program for gifted high school musicians at Concordia Teachers' College in River Forest, Illinios and was a featured soloist performing " Rhapsody in Blue" with the Afton Summer Symphony at age 16.  Karen moved to Kansas City to attend the University of Missouri, Conservatory of Music, as a piano performance major in the early 1970's.  After moving back to St. Louis she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Business Maqnagement at Webster University.  Karen has served as a Director of Music for sveral local churches and has been a private piano teacher for over 12 years.  Most recently, she served as rehersal accompanist to Dr. John Leavitt who directed his Mastersorks Chorale in a performance at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C.
Rebecca Lange
Accompanist Concert Arts Youth

Rebecca has studied piano for more than 11 years at the Townsend Music Studios in Ballwin, MO. She has participated in over 22 recitals, and has accompanied the Stages Repertory Theatre "Sing Broadway" classes in several performances. Rebecca assists with Concert Arts Youth Jazz Ensemble, and has provided intermission music for several concerts as well.

Cindy Kessler

 Cindy has been studying and performing music from a very young age.  From her love of music as a small child, through her studies in Piano and Voice at the Townsend Music School, and to her career as a professional musician and director, Cindy's passion for her art has opened the door to a world of experiences.  She has been a member of The Creede Repertory Theatre Company, a member of the two-time Grammy winning music department at Parkway Central High School, and most recently she was selected as a member of The Rotary Club's Group Study Exhange Team, and will be teaching and performing throughout western Turkey in May 2009.  When she's not travelling the globe, Cindy teaches music for the Concert Arts Association and at Thomas Jefferson School, works on varous theatre and film projects, and runs Frootsalid.com.  Cindy is so greateful to be performing with such a talented and enthusiastic group!
